Chicago PD Officers in Shootout with Fleeing Burglary Suspect, Gun Recovered

On February 2, 2025, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) notified COPA of an officer-involved shooting. Preliminary information indicates this incident began when Chicago Police officers responded to a burglary-in-progress call. Officers encountered an individual running from a building, which resulted in a foot chase and an exchange of gunfire between five officers and the individual. The individual was struck by gunfire and was transported to the hospital, where the individual was pronounced deceased. The officers were not struck by gunfire. A gun was recovered on scene.
