Russian President Vladimir Putin made a dramatic visit to Kursk, dressed in military fatigues, after ordering troops to swiftly retake the region from Ukrainian forces. Russia’s Chief of General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, reported that 86% of Kursk has been “liberated” and Ukrainian troops are now encircled.

This comes just a day after Ukraine agreed to a 30-day ceasefire proposal from the U.S., raising questions about the timing of Russia’s latest offensive.
