The United States and Canada have agreed to renegotiate the USMCA trade deal as tensions escalate between the two countries. Ontario Premier Doug Ford has suspended a 25% surcharge on electricity exports to Michigan, New York, and Minnesota after a discussion with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick.

The talks come as Canada pushes back against US trade policies under President Donald Trump, which Ford claims are hurting both American and Canadian businesses. With an April 2 tariff deadline looming, Ford and Lutnick will meet in Washington on March 13 to discuss the terms of a revised USMCA agreement.

Could this be the beginning of a new trade war? Will the US and Canada find common ground before the deadline? Drop your thoughts in the comments below!
