In Ottawa, federal ministers announce retaliatory tariffs on $29.8 billion worth of U.S. goods in response to President Trump’s steel and aluminum tariffs.
Taking part in the news conference are ministers Dominic LeBlanc (finance and intergovernmental affairs), Mélanie Joly (foreign affairs) and François-Philippe Champagne (innovation, science and industry).
Minister Joly speaks about U.S. President Donald Trump’s repeated annexation threats against Canada. LeBlanc comments on tomorrow's meeting in Washington that he and Ontario Premier Doug Ford are set to have with U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, where they are expected to discuss trade irritants between the two countries.
