2 Tim 3:1
But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.

Paul is telling Timothy of the last days spoken of in Scripture. He could be describing a number of passages in the Tanakh here, but he is mostly focusing on Daniel 11. The vision starts with a visit from a messenger in Daniel 10.

Dan 10:14 “Now I have come to give you an understanding of what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision pertains to the days yet future.”

Keep in mind that Yeshua said that to learn of the last days, look at what was written by the prophet Daniel. Paul knew this.

Matt. 24:14 “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a witness to all the nations, and then the end shall come.
