Moralism does not mean tapping into higher levels of spirituality, people suffer due to poor states of consciousness. Good vs. Evil does not exist, human beings love to compartmentalize everything, it just so happens that in most cases that bad people have good states of consciousness, they don't hold themselves to such harsh standards of a good religous man. That is why he is confident, and the religous man is not.
