Republicans cannot achieve their goal of cutting $2 trillion in federal spending over the next decade without cuts to Medicaid, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO).

Medicaid, the joint federal-state program that provides health coverage to more than 72 million low-income Americans, has been under attack by some Republicans who say it’s a wasteful welfare program that benefits people who don’t need it.

Democrats, however, view Medicaid as a way to provide affordable health care to everyone.

The truth always wins.
