2 Timothy 1 & 2 – What does it mean to be “saved?”

2 Tim 1:8
Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, or of me His prisoner; but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God,

Paul tells Timothy not to be ashamed of the testimony of our Master (Psalm 119:46-50, Isa. 51:7, Psalm 19:7-11, Mark 8:38, Isa. 8:16, Isa. 8:20).

2 Tim 1:9
who has saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity,

The power of Elohim saves us and calls us according to His purpose. His people are not called and saved by anything they have done. Peter says we are called to follow in the footsteps of Yeshua and follow Torah.

1 Peter 2:20-21 For what credit is there if, when you sin and are harshly treated, you endure it with patience? But if when you do what is right and suffer for it you patiently endure it, this finds favor with God. 21For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps,
