The geopolitical landscape of the 21st century has often been shaped by traditional military threats, with Russia and the Middle East frequently cast as the primary adversaries of the United States. However, an existential threat is emerging from an unexpected front: the Mexican cartels. Unlike conventional state actors, these criminal organizations function with military-grade weaponry, transnational networks, and deep-rooted corruption that makes them difficult to counter through traditional means. Given recent intelligence reports, there is a growing possibility of an armed cartel incursion into U.S. territory, potentially facilitated by illicit arms channels linked to Ukrainian arms dealers and Chinese suppliers. This paper will analyze the evolving cartel threat and propose a military strategy to counter this looming danger.
