Candace Owens: "The black community is being badly influenced by the Democratic Party"

"When you take these positions, do you ever think about something? I don’t want to use the word “vitriol” because I think it’s a bit too strong, and that would be unfair to you—I don’t want to do that. But when you consider the fact that so many people in the Black community have voted for Democrats since the Civil Rights legislation in 1964, remember what Lyndon B. Johnson said: “You know, pass this legislation, and we’ll have the n*****s voting for us for the next 200 years.” Remember that statement. I remember it.

I wonder, given your knowledge of politics and your evident understanding of these issues when you talk about them and take positions on them—particularly if they are antithetical or the antithesis of what the Black community would typically align with—do you do it on purpose? Because, dare I say, you’re disgusted with us as a community for having been deceived by the Democratic Party in your eyes. Is that possible?

That is a very good question. And disgusted would not be the right term for it. Frustrated, yes; and constantly trying to give people the facts so they understand that Lyndon Baines Johnson was an outright racist and hated us, yet we are doing everything he wanted us to do. We are reacting emotionally and not rationally. We seem to be a stereotype of irrationality, really. All they have to do is make us feel something, and we won’t react logically.

And I want to make this clear: it’s not just Black Americans. The Me Too movement was another manifestation of the same thing, which is why I’m doing this series on Harvey Weinstein.

But what really bothers me about the Black community is the way we defend criminals. You won’t find this in any other community. So when a white person gets shot, killed while unarmed, white people don’t go out and burn down their own neighborhoods, right? They’ll be like… Did you see how the Black community attacked me for talking about how O.J. was celebrated? Did you see that? Yeah. We’ve been conditioned to actually defend the worst in our communities. They just let it slide.

Do you think the Chinese are going to go outside if someone says, “Well, listen, this guy was high on fentanyl, got into trouble with the police, and died”? The Chinese will say—especially Asian mothers, who are very serious—“Idiot, good for you. You’re a disgrace, never come home.” That’s how Asian women are; they have standards. Do you think Jewish people are going to rally? No. Everyone understands that they view it as a natural process.

We don’t want to associate with that, and we have the completely opposite mindset. And when I say completely opposite, I also mean the inverse—we reject the most educated and successful people in our community, in terms of intellect. How can we move forward, right? Oh, Condoleezza Rice—no, she’s a traitor, she’s an Aunt Tom. Clarence Thomas, Supreme Court Justice—he’s a traitor, he’s an Uncle Tom. But Dr. Ben Carson, a literal neurosurgeon—Black people will call him stupid. It’s insane."
