McConnell criticizes and votes no on Trump Labor pick

Former Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, along with Senators Ted Budd and Rand Paul, voted against President Trump’s nominee, Lori Chavez-DeRemer, to head the Labor Department.

McConnell criticized Chavez-DeRemer for supporting policies that he believes force Americans into union membership.

He emphasized the importance of personal choice in union membership, citing Kentucky’s “right-to-work” law.

Despite the opposition, Chavez-DeRemer was confirmed by the Senate with a 67-32 vote, largely supported by Democrats, The Hill has reported.

This marks McConnell’s fourth vote against a high-profile Trump nominee.
