George Simion: They didn’t like the result, the Deep State and the European Commission, and they annulled our elections.

So now we are at CPAC seeking international support, and we are going to repeat the elections between May 4 and May 18.

María Herrera Mellado: What was the basis for annulling the elections?

George Simion: No basis, they didn’t say anything, just that the procedure wasn’t carried out correctly, but that is not a reason to call for new elections.

Someone spoke about foreign interference. Anthony Blinken was the one who said there was Russian interference, but not a single piece of evidence was presented. The only one who spoke about this was Vice President Jeanne Vance during the security conference in her speech here at CPAC.

So now we are fighting for free elections, we are fighting for democracy, and we are fighting to ensure that this doesn’t happen to any other country within the European Union.

María Herrera Mellado: George, what are the most important concerns for Romanian citizens right now?

George Simion: We want the war to stop. We are a very rich country in terms of natural resources, but we have the poorest population within the European Union.

We are fighting against poverty, against inequality, and against the EU bureaucrats who do not listen to the voice of the people. We are fighting against a corrupt system.

María Herrera Mellado: Have you found support in the EU and the U.S. administration?

George Simion: Yes, and I am very glad that Richard Grenell, Marco Rubio, and Vice President Vance have gotten involved.

We hope to take this MAGA movement and turn it into MEGA: Make Europe Great Again. I am the co-founder of the Make Europe Great Again movement, and as you know, we have transitioned many times from MAGA to MEGA.

We would like to maintain the strategic partnership between the EU and the United States.

María Herrera Mellado: Final question, George, if there is someone here who doesn’t know you and wants to learn more about you, what do you offer to the Romanian people?

George Simion: We want to reduce the state, increase production in Romania. It is important to have jobs, and it is important for Romanians who are in Spain, Great Britain, Italy, and Germany to return home.

I am the most popular politician in Romania on Facebook and TikTok, but for those who want to learn more, I frequently post on Twitter, on X, often in English, so you can follow me there.

María Herrera Mellado: Last question, are you also dealing with the influence of illegal immigration?

George Simion: They don’t come to Romania; they pass through Romania or Bulgaria and go to Germany or Italy.

We are against illegal immigration. It is illegal.
