Israel’s Latest Ethnic Cleansing Plans Just Got Rumbled!
Right, so the ongoing crisis in Gaza has taken a turn for the worse, not just because Israel have doubled down on their war crimes of blockading aid to the Strip by now shutting the electricity off as well, but because it seems that Israel is very much not only supportive of, but pushing ahead with Donald Trump’s vision for Gaza, the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians people from Gaza as that entails and all despite the Egyptian plan which avoids that completely having won widespread support from across the Middle East, other Arab nations and nations from Europe as well, though completely rejected by Israel and the United States.
In order to facilitate the Trump plan for Gaza though, Israel has taken steps to institutionalise the planned ethnic cleansing of Gaza by setting up a “migration administration” to facilitate the removal of Gazans from their homeland. A de facto Ethnic Cleansing Department now exists as part of Netanyahu’s administration therefore, and one guy in that government cannot stop cheering about it.
Right, so that was of course Bezalel Smotrich there, Israel’s far-right finance minister, one of the most vocal proponents of Donald Trump’s approach to Gaza emphasising how much he’s in love with the idea and making clear plans are taking shape in order to deliver upon it. He has claimed that Israel is actively working to make it a reality and all despite the Egyptian plan for Gaza having a great deal more support globally. Smotrich’s comments are alarming not only for their blatant disregard for international law but also for their explicit endorsement of ethnic cleansing. A migration administration has now been established to oversee the forced relocation of Gazans, ahead of any broader consensus on this plan being reached, which doesn’t seem likely when the Trump plan falls on its face with nowhere to relocate the Gazan people to, a move that has been rightly condemned as a de facto department for ethnic cleansing as this is. Only in Israel could such a thing come into existence to the sound of cheers and applause.
The formation of this migration administration is a chilling development because it institutionalises the notion of a policy that seeks to remove an entire population from their land, a clear violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention as that would be, which prohibits the forcible transfer of civilians in occupied territories.
By setting up such an administration, Israel is not only flouting international law but also signalling its intent to carry out a systematic campaign of ethnic cleansing in Gaza, therefore the atrocities it has been committing already and continues to even as the ceasefire continues to be debated are set to carry on regardless of what gets discussed currently as talks resume in Doha.
Israel’s is not exactly an honest broker in those talks as we ought to know full well by now though. Nine days of aid being blocked from entering is taking its toll, suspending the flow of essential goods, including food, medicine, and fuel. This blockade has created a humanitarian crisis of staggering proportions, with the majority of Gazans living in poverty and dependent on international aid for survival. All of this is supposedly Israel’s way of negotiation, but their version of negotiation involves committing atrocities until the other side gives into their demands. This hasn’t happened, so the situation has deteriorated even further now, with Israel announcing a complete cut-off of electricity to Gaza, collective punishment as this is, another blatant war crime being committed as this is, but what do Israel care? Nobody holds them to account do they?
The decision to cut off electricity was announced by Israel’s energy minister, Eli Cohen, who stated that Israel has “talked too much and taken too little action” in Gaza, I bet he’s fun at a dinner party, Cohen’s comments obviously genocidal as sin, not only because they reveal a callous disregard for the suffering of Gazans but also because they suggest that Israel is more than happy, justified even, in escalating its campaign of collective punishment against an entire people. The cut-off of electricity has had devastating consequences, with hospitals struggling to provide life-saving care, water treatment plants unable to operate, the desalination plants and families left without access to basic necessities.
All when there was tenuous talk of ceasefire talks gaining momentum, with both sides reportedly close to agreeing on a second phase of the truce. Well that’s gone the way of the Dodo again now surely? How can you negotiate in good faith with a state that sees genocide and collective punishment as not only acceptable, but within their rights to commit? It also underscores the extent to which Israel is willing to use humanitarian suffering as a tool of political leverage, again, an utterly condemnable notion and blatant violation of international law.
For decades, Israel has pursued a policy of colonisation and annexation of Palestinian land and its people, systematically displacing Palestinians from their land and denying them their basic rights, this is just a continuation of that, this is normal to them. This policy has been accompanied by a campaign of violence and repression, with Israeli forces routinely carrying out extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrests, and other forms of collective punishment, we’re seeing it happening rampantly in the West Bank right now as well.
The recent escalation of violence in Gaza particularly here though is a continuation of this pattern. Despite the ongoing ceasefire talks, Israeli forces have breached the ceasefire, have continued to carry out deadly raids in Gaza, killing civilians and destroying homes.
These actions are not only a violation of the ceasefire but also a clear example of the war crimes that Israel has been committing with impunity for years and plans are afoot to continue them all the more if Israel do not get their way.
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation KAN have reported that the new Israeli army's Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, who is such massively bad news I devoted an entire video the other day to this guy, has authorised military plans to restart the genocide in the Gaza Strip if negotiations for a prisoner exchange and the ceasefire extension Israel are demanding fail to materialise.
The plans approved by Zamir apparently include intensifying air strikes, because they haven’t stopped, the word ceasefire doesn’t seem to exist in Israel, expanding the scope of ground movements, and re-evacuating the northern Gaza Strip of Palestinians, forced displacement of these people all over again, in addition to preparing to call up hundreds of thousands of reserve soldiers according to emergency orders.
The time for turning a blind eye to these crimes by global governments, especially powerful nations like the United States providing diplomatic and military support to Israel has to end. Silence is complicity. This complicity has emboldened Israel to continue its campaign of violence and displacement, secure in the knowledge that it will not be held accountable for its actions because they never are. The recent decision to cut off electricity to Gaza is just the latest example of this impunity, a reminder of the urgent need for the international community to take action to hold Israel accountable and that lack of action is not going to be forgotten.
The global response to Israel’s actions in Gaza have been woefully inadequate. While nations across the Middle East, the Arab world, and Europe have expressed support for the Egyptian plan to rebuild Gaza, to address the crisis, will these statements of support end up being matched by concrete action when it is actually required? I look at my own country, the UK, they have expressed support for the Egyptian plan, but they carry out intelligence flights and supply military aid to Israel. Those two notions, those two statements cannot both continue to be true, at some point a side will be picked and I wouldn’t put money on it being Gaza. The United Nations, meanwhile, continue to fail to take meaningful steps to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza or to hold Israel accountable for its crimes, hiding behind the UN Security Council, which can be overridden, instead letting that US veto rule the roost every time Israel faces censure.
Under the Trump administration, the US continues to provide unwavering support to Israel, even as it carried out some of its most egregious violations of international law.
Israel’s pursuit of Trump’s vision for Gaza, its blockade of humanitarian aid, and its decision to cut off electricity are all clear violations of international law and human rights. These actions must be condemned in the strongest possible terms, and those responsible must be held accountable and the failure to see that happen, the longer that goes on, the more other leaders will be seen as part of the problem and not the solution. As for the ethnic cleansing department of the Israeli government, if that doesn’t get condemned by our leaders we absolutely need to demand answers as to why, but if this is the first you’re hearing about this story, those same questions need asking of our media as well, because as you might have guessed, western media have completely ignored this.
Israel are increasingly becoming more and more isolated along with the US as they pursue the Trump Gaza plan, because other nations rallying behind the Egyptian alternative appear to be gathering momentum, though obviously the words of caution I’ve expressed in this video still stand. Nevertheless, with that momentum comes more media attention and the more people know about Egypt’s plan the more difficult it will be for some to row back on it later, so get all the details of that shift against Israel’s ethnic cleansing ideas in this video recommendation here as your suggested next watch.
