BlackRock just made a $23B deal to place the Panama Canal Ports under US Control

Before you freak out, let’s talk about what this means.

First, this is not a US government deal. This is a private-sector deal between BlackRock and its partners. Global Infrastructure Partners and Terminal Investment Limited.

So either they did this to undermine president Trump, or President Trump got exactly what he wanted… for it to fall under American control. And that is exactly what happened.

I don’t see president Trump complaining about this deal, so unless President Trump expresses dissatisfaction with the deal, he got exactly what he wanted.

Blackrock and partners purchased a 90% stake in Panama Ports Company, which operates the Balboa and Cristobal ports at either end of the Panama Canal, away from CK Hutchison Holdings.

CK Hutchison control over the ports is EXACTLY what Trump refers to when he says China owns the Panama Canal. Well, not anymore.

CK Hutchison Holdings is a Hong Kong-based conglomerate. Since Hong Kong is under Chinese sovereignty and China is a major canal user (21.4% of cargo volume), Trump rightly saw this as a threat to National Security, U.S. interests, especially given rising tolls and Panama’s Belt and Road ties with China.

🔴 Here is what EVERYONE is missing…

The U.S. government couldn’t directly undertake the $23 billion deal to buy the Panama Canal ports because of legal limits under the Torrijos-Carter Treaties, which gave Panama sovereignty over the canal and its assets since 1999.

This BlackRock deal was a private commercial transaction, and only with a firm like BlackRock, who has the financial resources and flexibility, could make it happen. Unlike the government, which would face budget and congressional hurdles that would take years.

President Trump I’m 100% sure encouraged BlackRock to lead the deal.

However you feel about BlackRock, I encourage you to look into what President Trump did with the Fed and US Treasury.

President Trump knows exactly what he’s doing. And I’m taking this as a very big win.
