In Syria, more than 200 people have been killed within two days of fighting between the new government's security forces and gunmen loyal to former leader, Bashar al-Assad.

The violence began Thursday, when a Syrian police patrol was ambushed.

As Global's Jeff Semple reports, the battles threaten to upend Syria’s fragile peace.
