The Boardgame Mechanics Review Surplus of Sloths

The rivers are flooding and players are wildlife rescuers each trying to save sloths and make them happy, so that they can be awarded even more sloths!

Happy sloths are sloths that are in a group of the same type with increasing size. For each type of sloths, the player with the most sloths in a row will be awarded more sloths to take care of at the end of the game.

The Starting Rescuer will choose between two rows of sloths in the river to save; they'll choose one, and every other player will save another sloth in that row. The remaining sloth won't be saved; but don't worry! It'll end up in the Surplus net, to be saved at the end of the game.

Some sloths are really easy to join in with sloth groups and these are marked with an X. They will fill in a spot in a row if you're missing a sloth and they can multiply the value of sloths in the surplus net!

The sloths saved determine who gets the surplus sloths, but the surplus sloths determine the winner of the game. So make sure to save the right sloths to win the surplus, but not too many as then there won't be that many in the surplus to be won!
