Salvador Dalí's opera, Etre Dieu, is a limited edition presentation featuring Marilyn Monroe, captured in a 1985 art book and accompanying vinyl record.

Comprising three sections: A book covered in moiré silk, with all sides gilded, measuring 12x12. Featuring a color lithograph of Dalí's 1972 self-portrait, also measuring 12x12. Depiction of Marilyn Monroe's face merged with Mao Tse Tung's head. Enclosed in a pocket within a matching moiré silk folder. Includes 3 vinyl records, each placed in a golden paper sleeve with glassine paper protecting them. Housed in a pocket within a matching moiré silk case. Libretto written by Manuel Vazquez Montalban.

Music by Igor Wakhevitch. A very hard to find complete set.All three blue moiré silk volumes are housed within a two-part plastic gilt-decorated case.

All pieces of the set are numbered in pencil / 500, the case numbered the same in gilt.

Salvador Dalí was one of the most iconic painters of the twentieth century, with a range of imaginative, striking and surrealist work. His repertoire was influenced by classical Renaissance masters, but he also enjoyed painting with an avant-garde approach.

As well as painting, he became involved in film, sculpture, and photography.

Dalí was born in Catalonia (region of Spain in 1904) and placed great emphasis on his Arabic lineage (descendant of the Moors). He stated that this Arabic lineage influenced his approach to life and was a factor behind his love of luxury and Oriental clothes.

Dali had a habit of doing eccentric things, which polarized opinions. His eccentric manner was a reflection of his art, and vice versa. The fact that he was always in the limelight made his paintings more famous. He could also display a supreme confidence.
