Today we're headed to Laurel Grove South Cemetery in Savannah GA. Established in 1853, this cemetery is the African American part of the larger Laurel Grove cemetery North which we visited last week. Laid to rest are many of Savannah's first reverend's and religious leaders and their families, some of which were active in the civil rights movement. This cemetery also has a slave burial ground within it and the slaves at rest here are in tombstone marked graves.
