Trudeau says Canada-US trade war to last for "foreseeable future" after "colourful" call with Trump

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Thursday said his phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump was "colourful", but the trade war started by the president will last for the “foreseeable future.”

“I can confirm that it was a colourful call. And it was also a very substantive call,” Trudeau told reporters in Ottawa.

He added, “We talked about a range of issues, of course, primarily the trade war that they have chosen to unjustly launch on Canada.”

“Canada will continue to stand firm and unequivocal that as long as there are tariffs on us from the United States that are completely unjustified. We will be responding strongly,” he said.
