The Dangers of Foreign-Owned Wind Farms and the Hypocrisy of the Green New Deal
Australia’s reliance on renewable energy is growing, yet an alarming 70% of its wind farms are foreign-owned. This presents serious concerns regarding national energy security, economic sovereignty, and consumer electricity costs. Instead of reducing the burden on everyday Australians, foreign-controlled wind farms serve the interests of international investors, often at the expense of local communities. Meanwhile, the Green New Deal, promoted as a path to energy independence, only deepens these contradictions, prioritizing ideological goals over practical solutions.
The primary danger of foreign ownership in Australia’s energy sector is the loss of control over pricing. Foreign companies invest in wind farms not to provide affordable energy but to maximize profits. As a result, Australian consumers are subject to rising electricity costs while billions in revenue flow overseas. With the government pushing for a rapid transition away from coal and gas, citizens are left without alternatives when renewable energy prices surge. This situation exposes the fallacy that renewables automatically lead to cheaper power.
Furthermore, the Green New Deal and similar policies claim to support national self-sufficiency but actively encourage reliance on foreign corporations. Advocates demand that Western nations shut down their own fossil fuel industries while relying on wind turbines and solar panels produced and controlled by foreign entities. This hypocrisy undermines the argument that renewable energy guarantees energy independence when, in reality, it hands economic power to foreign interests.
If renewable energy is truly the future, then governments must ensure that energy infrastructure remains in domestic hands. Instead of outsourcing the industry to overseas investors, Australia must prioritize locally owned and operated renewables. Until then, the promise of cheaper, more independent energy remains an illusion, and the Green New Deal continues to be an exercise in globalist hypocrisy.
