Apatros Review Ep-0136: Howling II: Your Sister is A Werewolf [1985]

AR-0136: Ah yes, the infamous punk horror werewolf sequel to the classic Joe Dante original [itself a book adaptation BTW but most horror fans already know that one], shot in Czechoslovakia during their Commie days, with leftover costumes from the Planet of The Apes movies that had to be modified, thus making this the only werewolf movie where the Lycans are related to apes, the legendary performance by Sybil Canning as Stirba, Queen of the Werewolves [and the equally legendary closing credits, that feature the same shot of her ripping her top off something like seventeen times] and all manner of crazy hitsa going on, that while a good movie Howling II most certainly DOES NOT make, it is at the very least a rather fascinating kind of bad movie that can prove a good medicine for the masochist's soul.

VHS releases of this movie were darker than the results of your typical morning dump and cut to crap, the DVD release from MGM back in the early 2000s being the first uncut print to circulate and also being my archive print source.

My Grade: D+ [Disappointing]

Any questions, comments or associated trivia for this review subject, please leave in the comments for this particular video.

Note: I had to use the common alternate title for this review's title, but as I mentioned in the review, this film's true title is "Howling II: Stirba, Werewolf ß!+ch"...
