Thunder Road was first released in 1986 by Milton Bradley. It was originally conceptualized to be a Mad Max game, but the decision was made not to go ahead with the movie branding. When you take a close look at this game, you’ll see that a lot of design cues from the Mad Max movies are still very much intact.

Today I have a copy of the original 1986 version of Thunder Road by Milton Bradley and the new 2023 Thunder Road Vendetta by Restoration Games. Thunder Road Vendetta is very much intended to be an enhanced version of the original Thunder Road, so it’s very obvious that there will be some dramatic changes to the game, but I thought this would be a fun comparison.
