The Japanese Type 30 bayonet which was manufactured before and during the Second World War for the Arisaka Type 38 and Type 99 rifles was simplified over time to keep up with demands and constraints during World War II.

The arisaka bayonets first lost the hooked quillion before finally getting a squared-off pommel and lacked a fuller in the blade before the war was over as part of a last ditch variation.
