U.S. National Security Adviser Mike Waltz told reporters Wednesday that the U.S. "had taken a step back" from all aspects of its relationship with Ukraine, including supplying the country with intelligence.

Waltz also said the U.S. was actively engaged in talks with Ukraine about moving negotiations forward on a minerals deal and a potential peace deal with Russia.

A Ukrainian lawmaker called the potential halt of U.S. intelligence sharing 'critical', though it could partially be replaced by own resources and those of other partners -- if the U.S. doesn't prohibit it.
