WAITING ON GOD

Are you presently in a season of waiting upon God to act on a situation that is weighing you down? Sometimes such waiting is difficult.

“Waiting” is not a word most people like to hear these days. In a world that moves at a relentless pace, where instant gratification is expected and patience feels like an antiquated virtue, waiting can seem like a burden. But Scripture paints a different picture — one in which waiting is not an obstacle, but an invitation. It is an invitation to trust, to rest, and to grow in faith.

THE GOODNESS OF GOD FOR THOSE WHO WAIT

Lamentations 3:25 declares, “The Lord is good to those who wait for Him.” There is goodness in waiting — not because of the delay itself, but because of the One for whom we are waiting. Waiting on God is never a waste of time; great Christian leaders of the past have said that waiting is the holy ground where faith is deepened, endurance is strengthened, and intimacy with the Lord flourishes. If we rush ahead, we risk missing what God wants us to learn in waiting.

RENEWED STRENGTH IN WAITING

Isaiah 40:31 promises, “Those who wait on the Lord will find new strength.” As we wait on Him, we exchange our weariness for His power, our discouragement for His hope. We may sometimes feel weak in the waiting, but in God’s presence, weakness becomes the soil where divine strength grows.

CONFIDENT EXPECTATION

Micah 7:7 calls us to “wait confidently for God.” This is not passive waiting, but expectant hope. Just as a farmer plants seeds and anticipates the harvest, so too we wait with confidence, knowing that God is always at work — EVEN IF WE CANNOT SEE THE FRUIT YET. Our waiting on God is never in vain, for His timing is always perfect.

WAITING FOR MERCY, RESCUE, AND HELP

Sometimes our waiting is for mercy (Psalm 52:9), for rescue (Psalm 59:9), or for help (Isaiah 8:17). These moments of waiting are often the hardest, as our hearts cry out for deliverance. But even in the silence, God’s love has not diminished. He is not absent or indifferent. HIS DELAYS ARE NOT DENIALS, BUT DIVINE PREPARATIONS FOR SOMETHING GREATER THAN WE CAN IMAGINE.

PATIENCE, STILLNESS, AND TRUST

Psalm 27:14 urges, “Wait patiently for the Lord.” Psalm 62:1 gently instructs, “Wait quietly before God.” There is a beauty in waiting patiently, a peace in waiting quietly. It is in these moments that God teaches us to let go of our striving, to be still, and to trust. Impatience wants answers now, but patience submits to the wisdom of a sovereign God who knows the perfect time for every blessing.

If you are now in a season of waiting, take heart. You are in the company of saints throughout history who have waited on the Lord and found Him faithful. You are in the hands of a wise and sovereign God who never fails. And you stand on the promise that “THE LORD IS GOOD TO THOSE WHO WAIT FOR HIM.”
