Appalachian Trail at Dennis Cove - Hampton Tennessee - Trail Training a Rescue Dog

We adopted a 7 year old Beagle / Jack Russell mix back on December 11th and he's had a VERY rough 2 months. After several vet visits and a surgery, he's healing up nicely and we decided it was time to learn if he could be a hiking dog or not!

We took him up to Dennis Cove in Hampton Tennessee to walk along a short mostly-level portion of the Appalachian Trail to see if he could stay on trail and be a good hiking dog!

It was a relatively good time until I fell off the trail and nearly broke my leg! Fortunately, I could walk out and didn't need to be hauled off trail by a rescue squad. That would have been embarrassing.
