"I feel duped": BC woman falls victim to elaborate Uber scam

A B.C. resident is warning others after falling victim to an elaborate Uber scam.

“I feel duped, who do you trust now?” Sarah Hamilton told Consumer Matters.

This past January, the Vancouver resident had her car serviced and says her dealership requested an Uber to pick her up at her home. However, immediately after receiving a text message confirming an Uber was on the way, Hamilton says she received a phone call from the driver.

Given the timing of the call from when the Uber was initially ordered, Hamilton says she was caught off-guard.

What should have been a simple ride request turned into the victim's credit card being charged hundreds of dollars. Consumer Matters reporter Anne Drewa has the details
