THE LORD'S PRAYER
Copyright © John thomas Oaks and Tommy Oaks, Caliora Music Publishing, ASCAP

THE TWELVE HAD A QUESTION ON PRAYIN’
THEY BROUGHT IT TO JESUS
WE DON’T KNOW WHAT WE’RE DOIN’
MAYBE YOU’D GIVE US A CLUE
WE KNOW THAT JOHN TAUGHT HIS DISCIPLES
TO TALK TO THE FATHER
LORD, GIVE US A PRAYER
JUST LIKE JOHN GAVE HIS FOLLOWERS, TOO

Then Jesus said…
DON’T BE LIKE THE HYPOCRITES
HOLLERIN’ LOUD ON THE CORNER
THEY JUST WANT TO SWAGGER
AND SHOW OFF THE WAY THAT THEY PRAY
DON’T GO ON DRONIN’
LONG-WINDED AND LABORED AND LENGTHY
YOUR WORDS SHOULD BE PLAIN
WHEN YOU PRAY, HERE’S WHAT YOU SAY:

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done
On earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory forever.
Amen.

JUST LIKE THE DISCIPLES
WE NEED ALL THE HELP HE CAN GIVE US
JUST LIKE THE HYPOCRITES
WE LIKE TO DO THINGS FOR SHOW
SO LET’S ALL BE OPEN AND HONEST
AND GO STRAIGHT TO JESUS
AND WE’LL LEARN FROM THE MASTER
THE PRAYER THAT WE ALL NEED TO KNOW:

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done
On earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory forever.
Amen.
