Officers were on a routine patrol in the suburbs when they received a 911 call regarding a trespassing incident. The suspects had fled the area but their vehicle was still on the property. The suspects also had prior warrants for their arrest and the officers found their car in a miserable condition. Despite having several leads on their location there was no sign of the suspects. A manhunt was initiated and several officers and K9 deputies were called on the scene. When trying to apprehend the male, the K9 bit him several times in the leg. The male in return tried to drown the dog but was unsuccessful. The couple was charged with resisting law enforcement while the male was additionally charged with interfering or striking a law enforcement animal. He had an active warrant out for failure to appear on resisting law enforcement and possession of marijuana while the female also had outstanding warrants for failure to return to lawful detention, possession of methamphetamine and escape from community corrections. K-9 Klara was taken to a veterinarian to be treated for water in the lungs and made a full recovery.
