"Don't force our hand:" Ford warns Trump he won’t hesitate to cut off power to US if tariffs persist

Ontario Premier Doug Ford warned on Tuesday that he would immediately apply a 25% surcharge on electricity exports and would not hesitate to cut off energy to the U.S. if the Trump administration follows through on more tariffs in April.

"Don't force our hand. You underestimate Canadians. You're making a massive mistake," he warned Trump.

This comes after Trump followed through on his tariff promise. Aside from the blanket tariff on imported Canadian goods, Canadian energy was hit with a lower, 10 per cent levy.
