The souls awarded to the summoned player in a boss fight is half of what's awarded to the host. I got 75,000 each time Ornstein and Smough was defeated.

+1 soft Humanity is also awarded, so if souls aren't an incentive to assist players, a soft Humanity can be, especially if you're out of Humanity, as this is one way to gain a Humanity to make yourself human again, so you can summon friendly NPCs and players to help you.
