Jesus Enjoys a 'Heroic Recovery' Even as His Enemies Ascend – Mark 12:1–44

In this brief excerpt from the course, Jesus and Myth, Dr. Barber discusses how Jesus enjoys success on top of success, victory after victory, as He deliberately marches toward willing crucifixion in literal fulfillment of prophecy.

Jesus enjoys a ‘Heroic Recovery,’ which is not as those experienced by mythological heroes, since (inter alia) Jesus is not ‘recovering,’ as He has never been defeated. He walks victoriously straight to the Cross. Jesus continues to prove that He alone is not mythological.

At the same time, Jesus’ enemies continue to ascend, in perfect keeping with the myth-culture’s pattern, showing that they are mythological. And yet their ascendence literally fulfills God’s Word through His prophets as well.

While the world is determined to scapegoat God, God is determined to die to deliver the world from its sin-nature that drives it to scapegoat.

Are you following Jesus' pattern, delivering the world with Jesus in His Way of the Cross? Or do you follow myth's pattern, striving to scapegoat others, seeking to crucify others, for your own gain?
