We just did another playthrough on the Xbox Series X of the story mode and will chat all about the great times throughout the years we have had in the series and all the way up to MK1. Mortal Kombat (2011) - Plot Overview

Mortal Kombat 9 (MK9) serves as a soft reboot of the franchise, retelling the events of the first three Mortal Kombat games (MK1, MK2, and MK3) with a time-travel twist. The game starts at the end of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, where nearly every warrior has been killed, and Shao Kahn stands victorious over Raiden. As Shao Kahn is about to strike the final blow, a dying Raiden sends a cryptic message—"He must win"—back in time to his past self, just before the first Mortal Kombat tournament.

With this second chance at changing history, Raiden attempts to alter the course of events to prevent Shao Kahn from ever achieving total domination. However, every decision he makes seems to create unintended consequences, often leading to worse fates for Earthrealm’s heroes.
