D.C. (Dist. of Criminals), March 2, 2025 — White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt responded to criticism over President Donald Trump’s meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, defending Trump’s approach and highlighting Zelensky’s resistance to negotiations.

Speaking on Media Buzz with Howard Kurtz, Leavitt disputed claims that Trump lost his temper, stating, “President Zelensky came in with a mindset not wanting to negotiate peace. He was also antagonistic and repeatedly interrupted President Trump.”

The discussion followed a high-profile meeting where Trump and Vice President JD Vance pressed Zelensky on securing a ceasefire and economic partnership agreements. The meeting ended without finalizing a mineral rights deal, as Zelensky instead pushed for additional security guarantees.

Kurtz questioned whether Zelensky’s concerns about Russian aggression were reasonable, to which Leavitt responded, “That’s not what this meeting was about. President Zelensky was told ahead of time that this was focused on an economic partnership.”

Trump held the negotiations in front of the press, a move Leavitt defended as part of his commitment to transparency. “President Trump is the most transparent president in history,” she stated.

Negotiations between the U.S. and Ukraine remain ongoing, with both sides expected to revisit discussions on economic and security agreements in the coming weeks.
