Theme: The ascension of Jesus Christ from this earth to His enthronement in the courts of heaven assures us that the victory is already won, we are now in the mopping up phase of the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.

13th In our series the Epistle of Paul to the Ephesians

I. The Resurrection - 1 Corinthians 15:12-17
* A. Linch pin of the Christian faith
* 1. Abundant evidence for His resurrection - 1 Cor 15:3-8
* 2. It was a powerful demonstration of God’s Power
* B. We have experienced that resurrection power in the new birth, in our growth in Christ and even in our weaknesses

II. The Power of God is also shown in the Ascension - Ephesians 1:19-20
* A. The significance of Him being “seated”
* 1. His enthronement declared several truths at once 
* a. His work for our atonement was completed
* b. No chairs were ever provided for the priests in the O.T. system of sacrifice - Hebrews 9:23-28
* 2. His position at the Father’s right hand makes Him the all powerful ruler of the entire universe 
* 3. He is interceding for us in the throne room of heaven - Hebrews 7:25
* B. That event powerfully impacted the disciples - Luke 24:50-53 
* 1. They knew the reality of the truth of all that Jesus taught
* 2. With joy they worshiped and testified of Jesus Christ
* C. His ascension was accompanied by the promise of His second Advent - John 14:1-3
* 1. The Ascension communicates that the victory in the 6000 year war has already been determined
* a. That although a rebellion against Christ continues on this earth, Satan cannot win
* b. We do not fight a war in which Jesus Christ will lose in the end - Revelation 19:19-21
* 2. We must never forget that we are “more than conquerors” Romans 8:31-39
