They Just Don't Understand.

Some people struggle to see real evil in the world because they either haven’t experienced it firsthand or prefer to believe that everyone has good intentions. They may rationalize or downplay horrific actions, blaming them on misunderstandings, mental illness, or societal issues rather than acknowledging true malice. Others are conditioned by comfort, media narratives, or personal biases that make them resistant to the idea that some individuals or groups act with deliberate cruelty. Denial can also be a defense mechanism—admitting that evil exists means confronting a terrifying reality that disrupts their sense of security. But history and everyday events prove that real evil does exist, and ignoring it only allows it to spread unchecked.
