US President Donald Trump has spoken out to reporters following a heated meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to Trump, the meeting did not "work out exactly great" for Zelenskyy, as he believed the Ukrainian President had "overplayed his hand."

Trump emphasised that his primary objective is to achieve peace, rather than engaging in a prolonged conflict.

"We're looking for peace. We're not looking for somebody that's going to sign up a strong power and then not make peace because they feel emboldened. And that's what I saw happening. I'm looking for peace. We're not looking to go into a 10-year war and play games," Mr Trump said.
