Officer Shot, Suspect Dead in Maricopa Gas Station Shootout

The Maricopa Police Department confirms an officer-involved shooting that occurred on February 27, 2025, at approximately 2:50 p.m. at a Circle K gas station near State Route 347 and Bowlin Road.

Maricopa Police officers responded to an incident at the location and encountered Keith Brock, 38, who had recently been released from state prison. Brock had an extensive violent criminal history and was known to have gang affiliations.

During the encounter, Brock fled on foot and, at one point, drew a firearm, prompting officers to take defensive action. An officer discharged their weapon, striking Brock.

During the confrontation, a detective’s vehicle also made contact with the suspect. Brock was pronounced deceased at the scene. One Maricopa Police Officer sustained injuries during the incident and was transported to a Phoenix-area hospital, where he is listed in stable condition. As per standard protocol, all involved officers have been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.
