Driver Deceased After Leaving Pavement Slamming Tree, SEGNO, February 28, 2025 - At approximately 1:05 pm on February 28, 2025, the driver of a silver 2004 Ford Taurus was west-bound on FM-943. For some reason, the driver left the pavement to the left. The vehicle hit deep mud causing it to roll into a tree windshield first. The vehicle spun around and landed upright facing east. A nearby property owner heard the crash and called 911. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Segno Volunteer Fire Department, Corporal Keegan Newman with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Troopers Terrence Dickens and Sean Barnes with The Texas Highway Patrol. Dickens and Barnes were soon joined by Sergeant Ethan McAdoo (also with the Highway Patrol). The driver (name not yet released) was deceased on impact. Justice of the Peace, Terri Mayer filed an inquest at the scene. The victim was transported from the scene by a first-call car from Cochran Funeral Home. The vehicle was recovered by Dan's Towing out of Livingston. This accident remains under investigation by The Texas Highway Patrol.
