A North Carolina woman, Robin Deaton, 52, has been charged with attempted murder and kidnapping after allegedly locking her boyfriend in a storage unit for five days without food or water.

The 51-year-old victim managed to find his phone and call 911 for help on Monday. Police described the storage unit as packed with items, making it difficult to move.

The man, dehydrated but otherwise unharmed, told police Deaton trapped him after an argument, saying, “This is what you get.”

Authorities believe she intended to leave him to die, USA Today has reported.

Police emphasized that men can also be victims of domestic violence.
