The Labyrinth Warriors event - Genshin Impact Version 2.2 part 1
The Labyrinth Warriors event in Genshin Impact was a limited-time flagship event introduced in Version 2.2, running from October 21, 2021, to November 8, 2021, with its event shop available until November 15, 2021. It’s a solo domain-based challenge that brought a roguelike twist to the game, set in the eerie Mystic Onmyou Chamber in Inazuma. Players teamed up with familiar characters like Xinyan and Childe (Tartaglia), alongside a unique paper shikigami companion named Shiki Taishou, to tackle a series of combat trials while unraveling a mysterious storyline.
Event Overview
The event revolved around exploring a multi-floor domain filled with enemies, traps, and treasures. Shiki Taishou aided players with Charm Magic, offering buffs via Shikifuda—special charms that enhanced your team’s abilities. The goal was to clear each stage by defeating key enemies at Decisive Emplacements, progressing through increasingly difficult trials while collecting event currencies and rewards.
To participate, you needed to be at least Adventure Rank 30 and have completed the Inazuma Archon Quest Chapter II: Act III - Omnipresence Over Mortals, culminating in the "Wishes" quest. The event kicked off with an introductory quest, "A Tricky Situation", where you’d meet Xinyan at the Adventurers’ Guild in Inazuma City and head to the domain’s entrance in Araumi.
Gameplay Mechanics
Team Setup: Before entering, you’d split your characters into two parties: a Combat Team (your main fighters) and a Support Team (reserves). You could swap them at Curative Emplacements mid-trial, but each character could only be in one team.
Domain Structure: Each trial had two floors, with rooms containing various Emplacements:
Decisive Emplacement: Defeat a boss to advance.
Arrayed/Ferocious Emplacements: Fight enemies for rewards and charms.
Charm Emplacement: Draw a Shikifuda for buffs.
Curative Emplacement: Heal or tweak your team.
Shikifuda and Charms: You’d pick up to three Shikifuda before starting, each offering unique boosts (e.g., energy regeneration or damage buffs). During the trial, you could draw more from certain rooms, but watch out—some came with Cursed Seals, sneaky debuffs that could throw a wrench in your plans.
Traps: The domain was littered with hazards like Cursed Fields (explosive tiles or debuff zones), forcing you to stay sharp and adapt.
Charm Magic Upgrades: Using Damaged Replicas earned from exploration, you could juice up Shiki Taishou’s buffs on the event page—like boosting damage or reducing curse risks.
Stages and Progression
The event rolled out five stages, with a new one unlocking every three days:
The Ominous Demesne (Day 1)
Stage 2 (October 24)
Stage 3 (October 27)
Stage 4 (October 30)
Stage 5 (November 2)
Each stage upped the ante with tougher foes (think Ruin Graders and Rifthounds) and more complex layouts. You didn’t need to clear every room—just hit the Decisive Emplacements to finish—but exploring netted extra loot.
Rewards
Clearing trials and completing Martial Trial tasks dished out:
Aged Tokens: Event shop currency for goodies like Primogems, Mora, Hero’s Wit, Crown of Insight, and a free Xinyan (more on that below).
Damaged Replicas: Used to upgrade Charm Magic.
Battered Shikifuda: Let you redraw charms if you didn’t like your options.
To snag Xinyan (Pyro, 4-star claymore user) for free, you had to complete the quest "Path of the Taishou" (unlocked later in the event) and gather 4,000 Aged Tokens, then spend 1,000 to invite her via the Blazing Unison tab. Other shop items included ascension materials, talent books, and weapon enhancement ores.
Story Bits
The event wasn’t just about fighting—it had a neat little plot. Xinyan, stranded in Inazuma after a canceled tour, teamed up with the Traveler to investigate the Mystic Onmyou Chamber. Childe popped in for some chaos, while Shiki Taishou sought memory fragments tied to its creator, Kamuna Harunosuke, revealing the domain’s origins as a warrior-testing ground gone awry.
Why It Stood Out
Players loved Labyrinth Warriors for its fresh take on combat—randomized rooms, strategic charm picks, and no food healing made it a real test of skill. Many called it the best combat event yet, sparking hope it’d become a permanent mode (spoiler: it didn’t, though it likely inspired Honkai: Star Rail’s Simulated Universe). The mix of exploration, RNG, and tough fights gave high-level players something meaty to chew on.
Since it’s a past event, you can’t play it now (February 27, 2025), but Genshin loves recycling mechanics, so keep an eye out—something similar might pop up again!
