The Iraqi Marshes are vast wetlands located in the southern part of the country, spanning the provinces of Basra, Dhi Qar, and Maysan. They are known for their unique natural beauty, where water meets lush greenery, creating a rich ecosystem that hosts rare species of birds and fish. The marshes are home to the indigenous "Ma'dan" people, who live in reed houses and rely on fishing and agriculture. In 2016, the Iraqi Marshes were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List due to their environmental and cultural significance.
