Phoenix, AZ - A new edited body-cam released on Wednesday shows an SUV driver nearly hitting a Phoenix police officer right before a police shooting two weeks ago.

The suspects, 32-year-old Montel Anderson and 20-year-old Christopher Taylor, were booked on multiple felonies.

Police say they were doing a follow-up to a drug arrest when they spotted the pair in a white SUV in the area of 29th Avenue and Northern Avenue around 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 12.

Investigators haven’t said who was the driver and who was the passenger.

The officers parked one of their marked SUVs in front and another in behind the white SUV.

They then told Anderson and Taylor to get out of the SUV.

“Get the (expletive) out of the car! Get out of the car!” yelled one officer in the body-cam video.

The officer then opened the driver’s side door before the driver shut it and drove off, nearly hitting an officer.

That’s when two officers opened fire.

One of the officers shot his gun at least 10 times, including some when the SUV was already down the street.

Officers briefly lost sight of the SUV, but then found it and chased the suspects.

The passenger bailed out of the SUV in the area of 59th Avenue and Northern and ran into a nearby apartment.

Several officers found him and told him to get on his knees and put his hand on his head.

“Get on your knees right now!” One of the officers said.

When the man didn’t get on his knees quick enough, one officer fired a 37mm less-than-lethal launcher at him, and he dropped to his knees.

He was then taken into custody.

The driver kept going but crashed in the same neighborhood, and he was arrested as well.

Police said when they searched the SUV, they found several different types and quantities of illegal drugs.

Both men were shot at least once and taken to the hospital before being booked into jail weeks later.

Taylor and Anderson face multiple felonies.
