Enemies of God: Watch for these Characteristics!

Summary - This verse is very poignant. You will find out exactly who is for you by what they say and what they do. Many enemies of God speak carelessly concerning God and faith in Christ Jesus. It Is easy to see and understand the first part. When you encounter malicious speech, it is very hard to miss. Whoever is spewing their venom is wanting to be seen. Their words reveal their heart’s true condition with complete arrogance and disregard for anyone that is around them.

It’s the second part that intrigues me. I’ve always been taught that ‘taking your name in vain’ concerns the discouragement of a Christian from cussing. There are other verses that handle that lesson better for me than this one. However, when something ends up being ‘in vain’, from my understanding, it is a fruitless and futile enterprise that was a waste of time. The endeavor shouldn’t have been started in the first place. Enemies of God and Christ WANT to be associated with HIM, and do NOTHING in His name. A true enemy of God and Christ want to taint the names of our Heavenly Father and Christ Jesus as fruitless, futile, untrustworthy, a VAIN waste of time. It is a complete perversion to the nature of God and Christ. God accomplishes His word, He fulfills His promises, there is no endeavor He undertakes that is in vain. He sustains and finishes what He starts before He even begins, and that includes you and me. Lean on Him today. God Bless You!
