The Russia-based ransomware gang LockBit has reportedly offered FBI Director Kash Patel alleged “classified information” that it claims could “destroy” the agency if made public.

In a post on its dark web blog, the group congratulated Patel on his appointment and promised to share an archive of sensitive data exposing FBI corruption.

LockBit, described as one of the world’s most harmful cybercrime groups, appears to be seeking attention after its operations were disrupted in February 2024, the Daily Dot has reported.

Cybersecurity experts doubt the authenticity of the information, suggesting it may be an attempt to create chaos within the FBI.
