Cat’s Reaction in the Mirror 😺🐈😍

Cats usually do not recognize their own reflection in the mirror because, unlike humans and some other animals (such as dolphins and elephants), they do not pass the mirror self-recognition test. The reason a cat may feel scared or engage in a fight with its own reflection can be due to several factors:
1.Perceiving Another Cat – The cat might think that the reflection in the mirror is a strange cat invading its territory, leading to defensive or aggressive reactions.
2.Lack of Scent – Cats rely heavily on their sense of smell to recognize their surroundings and other beings. Since the reflection in the mirror has no scent, this can cause confusion or even stress.
3.Synchronized and Strange Movements – When the cat moves and the reflection mimics its exact movements, it can be confusing, triggering responses like fear, caution, or aggression.
4.Experience and Adaptation – Some cats eventually realize that the mirror image is not a threat and stop reacting to it, while others remain sensitive to it.

If your cat reacts excessively to mirrors, you can reduce its stress by covering the mirror or changing its position.
