Climate Change is Not Caused by Carbon Emissions lesson 6

The atmosphere works like a giant heat storage pond. In a 24-hour period, only 1% of its thermal heat energy goes in or out via radiation, and 99% remains in storage. 99.5% of the heat is stored in non-greenhouse gases. Heat enters the atmosphere by contact with the surface and with other air molecules billions of times more often than it enters via radiation to or from greenhouse gases. The amount of stored heat is determined by the amount of absorbed sunlight and surface pressure. Those two factors alone determine the atmosphere's capacity to store heat; not the type of gases, greenhouse or not.
