"When you are strong, be compassionate. When you are weak, be fearless. In both cases, abandon attachment and clinging."

In moments of strength, we have a choice: use our power to dominate or to serve. Milarepa reminds us that true strength is not about taking—it is about giving. Compassion in times of power is the mark of an awakened heart.
But what about when we are weak? Fear can paralyze us, keeping us trapped in suffering. Yet, these teachings urge us to meet hardship with courage, knowing that even pain is impermanent. To be fearless does not mean to be unafraid—it means to walk forward despite fear.
Clinging, whether to success or struggle, binds us to suffering. What happens when we meet both power and hardship with an open hand? When we let go, we discover that true freedom is not in grasping but in releasing. Compassion and fearlessness grow in the space where attachment dissolves.
