Building on the success of the previous Lion King films and the variety within their stories, there’s still significant potential for The Lion King 3 to deliver an engaging narrative. While Mufasa: The Lion King focuses on Mufasa’s rise to power, a new installment could explore the origin story of another character. Alternatively, it could take a more creative approach, similar to The Lion King 1½, which retold the classic tale from a fresh perspective. Both options would offer something new and exciting while centering on beloved characters.

However, since prequels and alternate viewpoints have already been explored, The Lion King 3 could succeed by continuing the main storyline. The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride followed Simba and Nala’s daughter, Kiara, and her evolving romance with Kovu, a member of the Outsiders. Despite Simba and Nala’s initial disapproval due to Kovu’s ties to Scar, Kiara’s love ultimately unites the Pride and the Outsiders.

A third film could expand on Kiara and Kovu’s future, exploring their reign and even their descendants as the Pride’s legacy continues. This direction would push the franchise into new territory, introducing a fresh antagonist and highlighting Kiara’s time as queen, along with the changes within the Pride.
