Bodycam: Officer Shoots A Teenager Who Is Running Away From Being Shot. San Diego PD. Jan. 28, 2025

San Diego, CA --- According to police, On January 28, 2025 just after 8:20 P.M., San Diego Police dispatch received a 9-1-1 call from the American Plaza Station at 1050 India Street.

A 61 years old man claimed he had been assaulted on an amtrak train and was requesting a police respond and paramedics.

At about 8:45 PM, San Diego Police Officer #1 Arrived and began investigating the reported assault.

At 8:51 PM, unrelated to the original call, a shooting incident occurred on the west side platform of the Santa Fe depot.

At the time of the shooting, Officer #1 and Officer Daniel Gold, a two-year veteran of the San Diego Police Department were nearby looking for the reporting party of the 9-1-1 call.

Officer #1 was on the West side platform of the Santa Fe depot.
Officer Gold was on the Kettner Boulevard side of the depot.

Multiple security cameras captured the shooting incident.
A 16 years old juvenile later identified by the family as Konoa Steven Wilson, a student at Bayside Community School in Logan Heights, is seen walking west through a corridor in the Santa Fe depot.

When Wilson reached the train platform, a confrontation ensued between Wilson and two other individuals, police said.

One of those Individuals fired multiple shots at Wilson.
The shooter and the other individual ran north on the train tracks.

Wilson ran back the way he came from through the Santa Fe depot corridor towards Kettner boulevard.

Officer #1 ran East through the Santa Fe depot towards Kettner boulevard.

Approximately 30 seconds before the shooting incident, San Diego police officer Gold exited his patrol car on the Kettner boulevard side of the Santa Fe depot.

As the shots were fired, officer #1 broadcast the following over the radio.

Responding to the radio traffic and sound of gunfire, officer Gold ran north towards the Santa Fe corridor.

Officer Gold arrived at the corridor entrance at the same time as Wilson, who was running away from the shooting incident, exited the corridor.

When officers began providing aid, police said a firearm was located concealed under clothing in Wilson's right thigh area.

Officers continued providing medical aid, including the use of CPR, until the arrival of San Diego Fire Department personnel.

San Diego Fire Department personnel arrived and assumed medical aid.
Wilson was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

This is the handgun recovered from Wilson.

The initial shooting at the Santa Fe depot is being investigated by San Diego Police Department Central Division Investigations.

Detectives identified the shooter and arrested him on February 6, 2025.
He is a 16 years old juvenile.

The San Diego Sheriff's Department Homicide Unit is conducting the investigation. Upon completion, the District Attorney's Office will review the case to determine if the officer bears any criminal liability for the shooting.

The bureau of investigation and the United-States Attorney's Office will also be monitoring the investigation.

The Internal Affairs Unit will conduct an investigation to determine if there were any policy violations.
